We take great pride in our history and have provided our corporate timeline below with key milestones and events going all the way back to the companies inception in 1977. As you peruse the timeline you will recognize many defining moments in the growth and evolution of CPU as the leading HCM and IT services provider in the area today. A Timeline of Our Story

CPU Inc. formed – S. Frank Jones, James H. Vandeven and, Schott & Company.
IBM unit record equipment was replaced with an IBM System 3 computer with 12K memory, 2 - 2.5MB hard drives and a 96 column card reader.
Processing services included Time and Billings, General Ledger and Financial Reports, AR, AP, Inventory, Sales Reports for clients.
Added payroll processing services and various processing services for Nursing Home Care providers.
Added computerized tax return processing. CPU survived the Blizzard of ’79 with no payrolls missed as a result, including those in Arizona.
Purchased new technology Texas Instruments TI990 computers to provide additional processing capacities. Cost: $200,000, including two 166MB disk drives at a cost of $30,000 each.
Sold first minicomputer with two 5mb hard drives and 32k of memory for $25,000.
Sold first business accounting software system that included General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Inventory, Sales Analysis, and Job Cost module.
Purchased an IBM System 34 computer system.
Purchased stock from Schott & Co and became totally independent. CPU moved into new offices at 320 S. Plazaway, and began providing services to area CPA firms and local businesses. CPU sold its first PC computer at a price of $6,000. It had a 10MB hard drive, color monitor, and 128k of memory.
Developed software for rating long distance phone calls and processing of monthly customer statements and sales analysis for a new startup business: LDD, Inc.
Flood in Cape Girardeau; Walker Creek overflow flooded CPU office with 2 feet of water. Processing services moved temporarily to a local bank until remodeling and new computers could be installed. Not a single payroll service delay resulted from this flood.
Became certified reseller of RealWorld Accounting software.
S. Frank Jones, company president, took a 1 year leave of absence to work on a computerization project for the World Bank in Ethiopia. This involved moving his entire family to Ethiopia to live for a year.
Developed PC based software systems for CPA's, including Time and Billing, General Ledger, and Payroll.
Sold first PC based network with 1 file server and 5 workstations and accounting software. Total cost of network under $30k.
Expanded CPA software to include 1099 processing, magnetic media processing of 1099's and W2's.
Became certified medical office software reseller: AMDS Advance Practice Management.
Became certified reseller of TMT equipment maintenance software.
Sold several “state of the art computers,” which included an Intel 386DX 40 MHz processor, 4MB RAM, 120 MB HD. Included Microsoft Windows 3.1.
Became certified reseller of CDCI construction management software.
Sold its first external SCSI CDROM drive: cost $500.
Sold its first NEC “portable” notebook computer. Final version of Microsoft DOS released.
Sold the latest Intel 486DX4 100 MHz computer: average cost $2695. Included Microsoft Windows 95.
Sold and installed its first Windows NT server.
Became Certified Reseller of Solomon for Windows accounting software.
Developed Y2K preparedness guidelines for evaluating client's computer readiness for year 2000 effects.
Purchased test equipment to certify network cabling.
Purchased new “state of the art” payroll processing software and converted all existing payroll clients to the new Execupay payroll system.
CPU begins offering internet based automated time and attendance services to compliment the payroll services.
Became certified reseller of Accpac Advantage Series accounting software.
Purchased N-able sophisticated network, server and workstation monitoring software that enables us to proactively monitor our client’s information systems remotely through secure internet technology. CPU had 11 employees.
CPU wins Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce "Small Business of the Year" Award.
Launch of Citrix Xen App remote desktop functionality.
First implementations of truly "virtualized" server environments with Citrix XenServer. Also integrated first StoneFly SAN storage solution.
CPU manages customer impact on payroll processing compliance requirements related to the Affordable Care Act becoming law.
Initial roll-out of VMWare virtualized server solution.
CPU is recipient of the Missouri Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award.
Launch of first 10 Gibabit network.
State-of-the art Disaster Recovery solution set-up in San Antonio, Texas.
Designed and implemented first state-of-the-art hybrid storage solution that included both SAS and Flash drives.
First Veeam backup solution (with snapshots) integrated with VMWare.
Launch of NetCare 2.0, CPU’s new and improved proactive and preventative 24x7 network monitoring service.
Completed major technology integration for area financial institution following a large merge & acquisition between two banks.
Implemented the Marquette network backbone using a Meraki-based infrastructure design.
Consolidation and integration of leading Workforce Solution toolsets that dramatically improve the workforce experience for both employees and employers.
Upgraded client storage system with ECM All Flash solution.
Update of CPU’s marketing and client communications channels including website, newsletters, and customer portals.
